Wondering if there will be snow when you arrive? In this article, we'll explain the relationship between snowfall and elevation at Lake Mountain.

Snow at Lake Mountain isn’t always guaranteed, even on a snowy day. That’s because snow needs cold temperatures to settle, and it’s much colder up high than it is down low. So sometimes a storm will dump fresh snow on the Summit while the lower parts of the mountain stay wet or rainy. The “snow level” is simply the elevation where snow begins, anything below that line will miss out.

The good news? No matter what the weather is like, you’re guaranteed snow at our Snow Play Area, Mini Toboggan Run, and Village Toboggan Run, thanks to our snowmaking. So there’s always fun to be had!

For the full mountain experience, including Koala Creek Toboggan Run and all our trails, you’ll want to keep an eye on the snow level forecast. The lower it drops, the more of the mountain comes alive.

See the diagrams below to understand what each snow level forecast means for conditions at Lake Mountain.
