My favourite mountain bike track at Lake Mountain is Cascades trail, more specifically the Summit section and the Red Hill section. When I first started riding at Lake Mountain I found it quite challenging, as the upper sections of trails back in 2021 were quite rocky and technical. These days there are a variety of trail options, from riding the ski trails, a couple of beginner friendly tracks, and the Cascades trail.

While the full Cascades trail can be quite challenging, it is a really great adventure ride. If you’re a lower level rider you can just ride parts of it. Intermediate riders can choose “B-lines” or walk challenging obstacles and advanced riders can hit everything hard and fast – so it really is a great all rounder.

I often recommend my friends visit Lake Mountain, especially if they haven’t ridden there before, as well as encourage anyone coming through the Murrindindi Shire to ride their bikes there.
