Winter is well and truly underway at Lake Mountain Alpine Resort, and the mountain has been busy as we move from the end of June into early July.
It’s been a mixed start to the month with changing conditions — some warmer days, and natural snowfall not always arriving when expected. But behind the scenes, the team has been working around the clock to keep winter going.
Our snow factory plays a key role in maintaining snow coverage across key areas, helping ensure there’s still plenty of snow fun for visitors.
🎿 School Holiday
The school holidays have brought a strong flow of families to the mountain, with many visitors experiencing snow for the first time. Across the resort, we’ve seen non-stop tobogganing, snowball fights, snowman building, and families enjoying an easy and accessible snow day close to Melbourne. Even when conditions vary, the atmosphere has stayed energetic and positive across the mountain.
🎭 Ice Sisters Visit
A recent highlight was a special visit from the Ice Sisters, adding a touch of winter magic to the mountain. Face-painted kids, smiling families, and a great atmosphere across the resort made it a memorable day during the school holiday period — a reminder of what winter fun at Lake Mountain is all about. The Bistro crew even joined the fun, transforming into a ‘Ninja Turtle squad’ for the day and adding to the light-hearted atmosphere around the resort.
🎄 Christmas in July at Lake Mountain | 25–26 July
One of the most anticipated winter events is coming soon! Visitors can expect a festive alpine atmosphere featuring meet Santa & Mrs Claus, family-friendly activities, and a unique mid-winter celebration experience. It’s shaping up to be one of the highlights of the season at Lake Mountain.
🌨️ What’s Coming Next: Early July Snow Forecast
Looking ahead, early July is showing more promising conditions, with forecasts suggesting colder temperatures and a potential increase in snowfall over the first weekend of the month. If conditions align, this could bring, improved snow coverage and the possibility of cross-country skiing in Victoria later in the season. We’re hopeful Mother Nature will return with a stronger winter pattern.
