Mountain Biking

Lake Mountain has quickly become a favourite in the
mountain biking community with runs descending for
30km from the top of Lake Mountain through beautiful
alpine forest all the way down to Marysville.

Activity Information

Entry to Lake Mountain is FREE during the summer season (November to April), offering access to hiking, mountain biking, and scenic walks.

We’re open 7 days a week in summer. Our administration office is open Monday-Thursday 8AM-4PM.

MTB Trails

Cascades Trail

Open 30km Advanced

Listed as one of Victoria’s best descent trails, Cascades has quickly become a strong favourite in the mountain biking community. An intermediate adventure run with advanced features, this all-mountain trail flows for 30km from the top of Lake Mountain through beautiful alpine forest all the way down to Marysville.

Lenny's Loop

Closed 2km Beginner

The ideal beginner trail for school groups and families, also good as a warm up before you try something more challenging.

Trigger Track

Open 1.7km Beginner

Flow trail mixed with minor rock features. The easier start to Cascades that gives you a beginner flow cross country ride.

Lower Granite Grind

Closed 5km

The Lower Granite Grind descends to a river crossing, before turning back uphill along a single track for a 2km climb back to the resort. A nice workout that goes through the old logging ruins and mountain ash forest.

Ski Run 21

Closed 0.3km Intermediate

A downhill ski run from the 1910’s, this technical downhill section provides a different option inside the Granite Grind trail. This short trail is ideal as a warm up for Cascades or a great way to challenge your mates.

Frequently Asked Questions

Always bring your own water as there is no potable water on the trail. We also strongly advise that you bring high energy snacks for a power boost along the way. Puncture kits are a must, plus warm and waterproof outwear in case the weather suddenly turns.

Yes. We provide shuttle service for mountain bikers that departs from the Peppers Hotel rear car park, accessible from 32 Murchison Street, Marysville.

Unfortunately, there is no camping for the General public on resort unless you are in a self-contained van within the car park areas. Schools and group camping by permit only and subject to Lake Mountains approval. For any group bookings please send us an email or complete the enquiry form here.
