Frequently Asked
Questions

General

Funnily enough, there is no Lake at Lake Mountain! The mountain was named after the surveyor George Lake. Unfortunate for those planning on bringing their boat!

Unfortunately, there is no camping for the General public on resort unless you are in a self-contained van within the car park areas. Schools and group camping by permit only and subject to Lake Mountains approval. For any group bookings please send us an email or complete the enquiry form here.

Mountain Biking

Always bring your own water as there is no potable water on the trail. We also strongly advise that you bring high energy snacks for a power boost along the way. Puncture kits are a must, plus warm and waterproof outwear in case the weather suddenly turns.

Getting Here

By car, we suggest allowing between 2 and 2.5 hours when travelling from Melbourne CBD.

Get Directions

Public transport is fairly limited, as Lake Mountain is located past the eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

The only public transport option is to catch a train to Lilydale on the Lilydale Line, then catch the McKenzies Bus Service, which runs once or twice daily to Eildon.

You can view the bus timetable here.

Yes. We provide shuttle service for mountain bikers that departs from the Peppers Hotel rear car park, accessible from 32 Murchison Street, Marysville.
