The last three known remaining Leadbeater’s Possums from Lake Mountain have been rescued and safely delivered to Healesville Sanctuary following ongoing concern for their survival.

One female and two young males were located by members of the multi-agency Leadbeater’s Possum Recovery Team last week. This follows a huge effort by volunteers from the Friends of the Leadbeaters group and directed by Parks Victoria who braved weather extremes over the past three winters to feed, monitor and ensure their survival.

26th & 27th of November 2011

Held over the 26^th and 27^th of November is the annual Lake Mountain Sprint. A tarmac car rally made up of timed runs between the Lake Mountain ticket box and the main village car park. Viewing points located at Kelly’s Paddock, Arnold Gap and Snowy Hill offer spectators the opportunity to see the drivers in action.

On the 20^th of November 2011, Lake Mountain’s holding their Official Opening of their new Visitor Day Centre. With a new summer program being introduced in 2011-2012 a launch of these products will coincide with the opening.

Deputy Premier of Victoria Mr Peter Ryan MP will be around on the day to officially announce the operation of the new centre and the summer program.
Geoff ‘Coxy’ Cox will be MC for the day, providing families with entertainment and lots of fun. Also present on the day is our key note speaker for the event, Sam Kekovich.

The theme of the day is based around ‘Family Fun’ where local families and visitors will have the opportunity to come to Lake Mountain to trial these new products whilst enjoying a carnival like atmosphere and taking in all that the new building has to offer – and all for FREE!

Fun begins at 11am, with face painting, live bands, jumping Castle, Balloons, Lenny the Leadbeater Possum his great show bags and much more.
Activities to try, include Dune Buggies, Mountain Biking, Flying Fox, Disc Golf and Laser Skirmish.

This is the major ski event of the season at Lake Mountain. Organised by local entity the Bullfight Ski Club, this event is great for serious skiers right through to skiers just wanting to have fun.

The Bullfight Charge is the blue ribbon event of the Mt. Bullfight Ski Club. It is one of the premier citizens races in Australia, reflected in the number and quality of participants. It is also a chance to catch up with old friends and enjoy the atmosphere of being part of this special community.

There is a large contingent of social racers and there will be plenty of people to have a chat with as you go around, no matter what your standard is. An added attraction is the third mini series is held on the same day, allowing the 18 and under age group to get two races in one outing.
